5x5 Fiction Closes its Doors

This is difficult to write. I wanted nothing more than to get another issue of 5x5 Fiction out into the world, but it appears it won’t be happening. There simply weren’t enough quality submissions to go forward with Issue Five.

I place the blame solely on myself as I wasn’t able to promote the submission calls via social networks like I did for the previous issues. I’ve just been too busy and a bit overwhelmed.

I apologize to all of the writers who sent me their beautifully penned babies for Issue Five consideration. Please know I respect your work too much to put forth an issue I don’t 100% believe in. I know your work will find the welcome arms of another publication.

I’m very happy and proud of the writing that has appeared here at 5x5 Fiction. There have been four superb issues I will forever treasure. At this point, I don’t have the necessary time or energy to devote to this site and will be placing 5x5 Fiction on indefinite hiatus.

If there’s someone out there who would like to pick up the 5x5 editing mantle and run with it, I’m all for it.

READERS: I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you’ve given to me and all the authors who have been published here.

WRITERS: I encourage you to continue writing 5x5 Fiction pieces. Submit to other flash fiction sites. Keep the form alive.

  3. I'm so sorry to hear that 5x5 won't be continuing but running something like this takes tremendous effort. And staff! You've been awesome, Angel. Perhaps it could come back as a yearly special.
Thank you for the work you've done to encourage and entertain so many of us.

  4. Both bummed, and deeply understanding at the same time. 5 x 5 was an awesome challenge, and I was thrilled to have been part of two issues.

Thanks for being such a phenomenal host, Angel, and good luck with all your current projects!

  6. Wow, I'm really sorry to hear about this Angel, and yet I do understand.

Thank so much you for all the work you've put into 5x5, and for the four great issues you brought to life. I would also like to again thank you for the support you gave me by accepting one of my pieces for inclusion.

Best of luck to you as you move forward!

  8. I'm sorry too. Will miss 5 x 5. Thanks for publishing my work. You were the first person ever to publish anything of mine on the internet, and for that I am extremely grateful. You gave me the confidence to keep on writing!

  9. Lemme give you a few thoughts, girl, which shall influence U.S. to reach for Utopia no matter what the cost: FOUR!! Blogs (outta 16) which tell of the exxxcitement Heaven Above has to offer, which is an eternity of pleasure-beyond-measure; we ROTE {theeyebeam} to show a true story about sex in Heaven after we croak (apparently, most of U.S. are completely unaware of this fact). C'mon, people. The Liar's a deceiver: absolutely no sex in Hell amid the flames, filth and fuglyness, yet, puh-lenty of sssEX! Upstairs for those who want some. And why not?? Doesn’t God say anything and everything’s possible?? Yeah. Thot so. God bless you. Meet me Upstairs, miss gorgeous, where you’ll be 17 and I will be 21 for the length and breadth of our explosive eternity --- ‘God only gives bawls to those who see the need for humility’
